The Self Healing Effect
“The Self Healing Effect” aka the #placeboeffect has been something that I have talked a lot about in my clinic. I’ve always thought that the idea of a placebo effect, is medicine on its own! .
The more we learn, understand, and research the power of how our mindset can affect our health, the more we realize how important it is for our healing process.
Here’s a link to a fascinating podcast that discusses the the latest studies on placebo, nocebo, and the belief in healing. 💡⬇️

Mindset Matters
*Mindset Matters* 🧠
I’ve been thinking a lot about this amazing study from 2007 that looked at how mindset plays an important role in the outcomes of exercise and health. ❤️
The study looked at 84 female room attendants from a variety of hotels. “Those in the informed condition were told that the work they do (cleaning hotel rooms) is good exercise and satisfies the Surgeon General's recommendations for an active lifestyle. Examples of how their work was exercise were provided. .
Subjects in the control group were not given this information. Although actual behavior did not change, 4 weeks after the intervention, the informed group perceived themselves to be getting significantly more exercise than before. As a result, compared with the control group, they showed a decrease in weight, blood pressure, body fat, waist-to-hip ratio, and body mass index. ❗️❗️❗️
These results support the hypothesis that exercise affects health in part or in whole via the placebo effect.” 💗
Say whaaat?? I just love this! Mindset matters! .
